Reynaud’s Phenomenon

Reynaud's Syndrome

Fingers turning white and/or blue when cold. When the fingers turn white or blue this can cause the finger nails to become brittle with longitudinal ridges. Its cause is unknown for some other cases of this are caused by temperature, or gangrene and necrosis. How this happens is by the constricting of the muscle walls making the cells grow smaller too. Can be caused by emotional stress.

1 Response to Reynaud’s Phenomenon

  1. Trish says:

I do not have lupus, but do have Reynaud’s Phenomenon. I have found keeping a cheap set of gloves (like the 1.50 knit gloves from Target) in my purse to be a lifesaver. Shopping the freezer and refrigerated aisles at the grocery store would always trigger a Reynaud’s episode. Using the gloves to grab the items off the freezer shelves has prevented me from having Reynauds episodes.
